The Boars played at home against Florida State in the first of two games on Friday, and lost to the Gators in two straight sets.

Arkansas has a 17-7 record this season and the SEC has an 8-5 record. The Gators have a 9-2 record in the conference and a 15-6 record.

Junior Jill Gillen led the Hogs with 10 kills, with a hit rate of 0.233 and 8 kills. Sophomore Taylor Head also added 10 kills, and freshman Courtney Jackson also had 8 kills.

The Florida team performed well from the start of the game and quickly took a 6-2 lead. The Arkansas team scored 4 points, but the Florida team immediately responded and the Boars took a 10-4 lead to a timeout. The Gators attacked from there. Although the Boars connected three-pointers in series, the Florida team still led by 16-11. Arkansas only added one point, and Florida won the first set 25-12.

The second set was very tense at the beginning. The Boars used a pair of points, including Gracie Ryan's solo block, and led 5-4. However, the lead was short-lived, and the Florida team scored 9 points in the next 11 games to lead 13-7. Arkansas counterattacked, senior Lauren Evans (Lauren Evans) scored three points in a row, rewriting the score to 15-13. After the timeout, the Florida team led 7-1 and 21-14. The Boars added five more, but couldn't catch up. The Alligators led with a 25-19 victory and a 2-0 score.

The third set started with Florida State's 5-2, which kept the Gators in the lead. Although Arkansas limited the ability of the Florida team to create any long-distance running, the Boars could not score more than two points at a time, and the Alligators led 15-10 when the media was suspended. Gillen's one kill and Ryan's two aces changed the score to 15-13. Another kill reduced the score to one, but the Gators added another three to lead 19-15. Florida led 23-17, but the Boars added three kills and suspended Florida. The Gators scored the next two points and locked the game 25-20 and 3-0.

Next, Arkansas and Florida will play Saturday's rematch at Barnhill Arena. The first serve time is set at 5 pm, and the game will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
